Peas as food

They are already cooked if the came from a can. I would rinse them really well since canned tend to be high in salt. Pinch them and remove the skins.
well I have two oscars and they eat everything including pellets and all frozen fish/shrimp i give them so I saw that peas helps with constipastion. So I was just wondering if I could feed them it as a treat
Being forced to pooped way faster is not really a treat. Oscars don't need peas since they are primarily insectivores. Give them insects or worms as a treat, not peas.
Okay. Peas don't really help with constipation, all just comes out as waste, peas are high in anti nutrients. Peas don't hold much nutrition and not very high in fiber as well.
Algaemax on the other hand has good amount of fiber along with proper nutrition from all aquatic veggies. Just feed algaemax mixed with your fish's diet or feed it as meal once in a while.
All pellets are not equal.
I have always received negative feedback from some in the forum in regards to feeding oscars peas.
I have done it for years and they love frozen peas. No bad side effects that I have noticed in 3 years. I don't feed them so much anymore and when I did it was once a week at the most. I think freeze dried krill also works well as roughage. I feed algae pellets at times. But it's clearly not their favorite as they get used to the fish, shrimp and worms in their normal stick diet. They will always go for a nice frozen pea or 2. At 3 months and 3 years old.
