Peat??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
when i had my arrowana's, i used peat. they actually did prefer the effects of the peat in the water. they were more alert and more active and not sluggish. also, the stained water gives an nice affect and more natural look to an aquarium with a natural setting.

I think I may try to use peat, I will check over all my pH's and such, but it seems that whenever I have the light of the aquarium off, or the room is dimly light, or when it is dark and I look at them with a flashlight, they always have much more color to them. They become more shaded of reds, blues, greens, golds, and teals. But whenever it is bright, or the lights on, they are more of just a plain gold.
Am I just going crazy here.
But if I would use peat to just darken the water, would this increase their color as I seem it when the room is dim. I know their are flakes and food out there that also help with color, but do you think its worth trying peat? I have no intrests in breeding these fish, if it happens it happens, but I would like to get the most color and enjoyment of looking at them, and make them feel comfortable.

Thanks for all the suggestions from everyone so far as well. Once again the MFK crew proves their vast amounts of knowledge and uses it for support. THANKS!!
