I just recently inherited a 2 ft black arowana. He was fed nothing but feeders for 6 years. I just got him to start taking in hikari floating food sticks. Any other suggestions? I am not new to arowanas I had to get rid of my jardini that I had for 8 years:cry:. He was fed bloodworms and shrimp. My black won't eat bloodworms and only eats 1 or 2 shrimp at most. Is this normal? I am so used to my jardini devouring everything. I also heard you are only suppose to feed adults every other day. Is this true?

i fast mine usually one day a week, sometimes two...try Hikari Cichlid Bio Gold pellets...great for color..

hikari cichlid bio-gold or new life spectrum or omega one floating pellets (any kind should be okay) OO and NLS have whole seafood parts, where the hikari stuff uses fish meal, etc. you can get the Hikari stuff at Petsmart for $8.50 if you go to their online store and print the sheet off and take it into a store.

Does the bio gold have that seafood smell like the floating sticks? I think he likes that or just doesn't like the cold in his feel in his mouth.

So he has ate roughly 70 pellets. Is this ok? thought I'd share some pics.

Great looking fish. My big jardini and silver both eat Azoo arowana sticks. I'm glad, because they're inexpensive.

But their stomach too can fill alot of pellets at one go compared to the smaller one. So in the long run still spending alot on pellets:D

I've spent much much less feeding pellets.
