hi all i am currently trying to grow out a poly and a tinfoil barb they are both around 3 1/2 inches and i wanna get them bigger faster so i can put them in my 55 G they are currently in a 20 gal now my question is the only pellets that they are able to consume are a micro goldfish pellet that i have and they seem to really like it and im wondering if its okay to feed them a goldfish food or will that give them like health probelms i am also feeding them bloodworms with these pellets any info on this would be appreciated

First off a tinfoil barb is a non aggressive fish. they dont really have strong growth rates, I consider them tetras they are pansy eaters., and pansy fish. If you want a eating machine get a RTC or a beautiful eating machine like a Clown knife it will dominate the tank and grow at more then a inch a month.

Try bigger pellets.

well i already have him and like him even tho he may be a pansy lol but would you know if the goldfish pellets would harm him health wise ???

Tin foil barbs are pigs! Anybody that has them will agree. Just like most other fish feed them a variety of food including veggie matter because they need it. And for fast growth lots of water changes.

As far as goldfish pellets, I never used them so I don't know (sorry).

hikari sinking carnivor be your perfect pellet...

almost every tinfoil I've had personally, and while working in pet stores has been quite the opposite of this, they would very quickly snatch food as it is dropped in the tank, and they are comfortable as long as in a group. definitely wouldn't call them 'pansy eaters' even though not aggressive fish in terms of temperament.

anyways about your question lol i fed my cichids goldfish food when i started not knowing much about fish and my fish were fine but when u finish the goldfish food your better off buying a difrent food, just incase.
