ok, im too weak, i see my rtg beggin, and i just wanna feed a giant shrimp!
but ok, determined to train it on massivore delite

today is day 3.

first day i attach a piece of shrimp on the pellet. small piece, just enough to stick it on the one side of the massivore pellet.
eats 3 pieces concecutively, 2 late evening 1 hour before lights out.

second day
eats 3 morning, 1 afternoon, 1 night time

third day, 4 morning, 1 afternoon.

i wil keep at this to make sure it knows it will ONLY get massivore with a tiny piece of shrimp and will reduce shrimp in time.

you think this will work?

it wont stunt the growth of the aro right? by semi starving it?

someting im scared of is a stunted aro.

yeh u shud have no problems with massivore delites...fish are just addicted to those pellets! i swear they put drugs in them! too bad they r so expensive!!! mite want to train him to eat floating pellets like cichlid biogold, foodsticks, gold or spirulina!

does your RTG eat the pellets then they would spit them out? if so its only a matter of time before your RTG giving in to pellets, my greenie dont like pellets instead it eats fish flakes.

Some days my RTG will eat massivores like candy and other days he spits them out. Same with NLS wafers that I feed to the bichirs. His main diet is market shrimp. Its actually cheaper than massivores.

That's a good way to start training your RTG, did the same process with mine using kikari instead of massivore delite and spiked it with thin strips of beef heart instead of shrimps.. it will do the trick if you want your aro to eat pellets/dried food... don't worry about stuntin' your aros growth, he still gets nutrition from massivore and a small amount of B-carotene from the shrimp on a daily basis so he should be fine:) IMHO if you're really afraid of deficiency, it wouldn't hurt to try adding Vita Pro, Angel Vita or any type of quality grade vitamins suited for aros to your tank, not only for enhancing the coloration/redness of your RTG but more importantly, to provide the vitamins needed to increase his appetite and growth <goodbye fear of stuntedness> hehe

hes only 13 inch max 14 inch, more so 12 to 13 though.

if i give him massivore with no shrimp attached to it, he will go for it fast, then kinda chew it and spit, sometimes he takes it and spits out straight away.

if i attach shrimp to it, he eats the first 2 to 4 i give him, then he starts chewing it after that realising its massivore.

i dont wanna train my 1.5 red or jardinii to eat pellets cos they will be with fish that is too fast that will take all the pelelts before them lol and those fish are cheap and nothing special so its a waste, also their colour isnt spectacular to feed such expensive pellets.

i dont mind the expense, a kilo bag lasts me ages, and i still have 3x 1kg bags left lol full bags unopened!! i buy in bulk.

i just get weak when i see it beggin for food and i enjoy seeing its stomach bloated lol
but i will try to be strong!! this time :D

search my posts for pics of the tank. i am ikn the process of taking some pics with fish in it.
my camera is crap so my friend who has an SLR will try to take nice pics.

seriously, just starve him and he'll be taking pellets in a couple days, no need to have such a big hassle sticking peices of shrimp onto pellets.
