Pellet training my RTG - attempt #3:D

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i have tried to starve him before, wont take them.
its already been couple of days, and e still not eating pellets straight up.

he will take them and spit them out straight away, sometimes chew on it.

how many days have you starve your RTG? just give him few pellets within no time your RTG would give in to his hunger, have you tried fish flakes before? my greenie eats them.

wont go for anything, must like the small and size of massivore pellets.
sometimes is interestedi n floating but too small for it.

starved 5th day today, eating total 4 to 6 pellets with small tiny shrimp attached to it daily so far from day 1.

this is as far as i have gotten in the past, then i gave in cos i see that its hungry and wanna feed it.
but i plan on going through with it.

it really doesnt wanna take the pellets, it spits it out, but yes, i guess in theory hnger wil kick in.

hope it doesnt take months
dont wanna stunt growth

it wont take months and probably wont stunt your RTG, try giving him some arowana pellets, gudluck with your feeding program, alot of us are sure that your arowana will give in.

will do
hope aro will give in soon
i wanna see it take a few massivore in quick succesion so it gets a fat belly:D

there is something about an aro that gets a fat belly after feeding lol

From my experience i tried the same thing but with Hikari pellets. My green didnt eat for an entire month, just spat it straight out. He eventually got to hungry and had 1 or 2 pellets a day but in the process became very thin. I gave in and started pumping it up full of fresh market prawns and now its grown alot and fattened up nicely.

I feed the prawns with shell on but the heads off as i hear the shells are good for the aro's scales. Is this true?

Im going to try and insert hikari pellets into the prawns and see whether the green accepts the food that way. Anyone tried this?

im weary
he is just not taking the pellets, spits it out
the longest i tried awhie back was 3 weeks, but he never took pellets.

i dont wanna make it hungry, i dont mind feeding shrimp really, i just prefer pellets
see how i go i guess

Yeah only reason i tried pellets is because it was a time saver, instead of feeding prawns. I dont really mind it because i love watching my aro smash the prawns. Absolutely loves them!

I cant wait for the photos..

If the starving method doesnt work, try to mix the diet... .. But then again, I have heard of fussy fish who love their meaty meals! :)
