pellet training?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well my LFS is a reputable one. The lady boss does quarantine all WCs for about 3 weeks before putting them on sales.
In those quarantine tanks are always with baby guppies which are home-bred by the boss.
Hard to find such a great store who puts fish's health above money

I have never had a hard time getting them on pellets (I go straight to NLS).

Easy as pie! I thought it would be alot harder than what it actually is. All you have to do is feed them their regular regimen and go off feeding them for about 3 days. Then just offer pellets and they will usually start eating before the 3 days is up. Once they recognize pellets as food they are trained from then on. Mine actually swim at the top now for food even though I still feed them primarily live foods.

Like someone mentioned previously- it can be a case-by-case basis- they're generally pretty easy to switch over and tankboi summed up my same technique nicely. mine also goes to the top for pellets even though they get live food more frequently. GL~

yep had no problem myself either. I just break up the massivore for the smaller ones once my flowerhorn was done eating.
My 4" senegals will even snatch up the full pellets if the others havent gotten to it quick enough. kind of amusing to watch them run around with it for a while before spitting it out
