Majority of my fish take pellets easy...however my baby pbass and wolf fish do not ....Best way to get them on pellets?

I throw the pellets at the fish. Or if their a semi aggressive or aggressive fish get some of the smallest feeders you can find and toss them in the tank. I did this with guppies to pellet train a gar once, guppies will start nibbleing at it and then it got his attention.

lol, my P. Afer knife spit out the pellets (Massivore's even) when I tried stuffing his Tilapia...Tried starving him, etc. Some fish simply won't eat pellets, ime.

I just gave in, he's gets tilapia (fillet from the store, like 15 of them for $8 or 9, and lasts months. or earthworms from Walmart.

I do agree with this but try either of these methods first before giving in it works in most cases. I tried everything to get my ray pups to eat prepared food and no matter what I did it failed. Waited a month and threw some shrimp in for the heck of it and they pounced on it. I did not starve them, not sure if it was a fluke or they where ready for other foods.
But yes racersx is right sometimes you have to admit defeat and be happy you got them off feeders which are dangerous to your aquarium. My best suggestion is if you can't get your pbass off live food set up a few qt tanks for feeders.

They are at least eating frozen blood worms...I just life to get everything on pellets tht way feeding time is shorter bc I'm only putting pellets in...with 22 tanks I need to make it as easiest as possible

I have the same problem with a 4" p bass and a 3 1/2" datnoid . I tried many different types of pellets floating and sinking, sometimes they will strike at a shrimp pellets while it sinks . I tried cubed up fish filet or shrimps with no good results. I give feeder minnows only once a week so I know at least they get something beside bloodworms . I also get a dozen ghost shrimp once in a while as a treat. IMO with time they will loose that instinct to go for wiggling things ( live ) as they grow up

Try completely crushing the pellets at first guys using the dust to season the shrimp (this gets them used to taste before texture) then once its taken start to add larger chunks of pellet to the shrimp and work up from there.
I've found with jardini once they get used to the taste and flavour of the pellet , they will then start to accept a lot more when stuffing shrimp.

I was resigned to my kelberi's eating krill for the rest of their lives. I wasn't home Christmas so no feeding. Day after I threw some Hikari sticks in and the p bass struck them. Especially the dominant one. Amazing. Day 2 again they are eating sticks. I will hold off the krill for a while.
- So don't give up!

This thread is 3 years old, so im sure OP either pellet trained them or got them eating something else by now lol...
