pellets ? Froozen foods?

really? they spend majority of their time there it seems

My tropical gar is the only gar i have that spends a majority of the time at the surface. all the others spend most of their time in the lower regions of the tank.

I'm lucky... both of my Gars are pigs. I've had them for 5-6 months since they were 1-2 inches. Now they are 6&8 inches. I started them out on blood worms and guppies, then a couple of weeks after they started eating Hikari Aro Sticks & Ciclid Gold. Happened by accident... eating my 2 Heart Parrot's and Silver Aro's food. I was just baby-sitting the Aro.

They eat everything that Floats.... Pellets, blood worms & ShrimpE. I will try the meat on a stick method.... sounds like fun.

Oh yeah.... I forgot... I tried cutting Market shrimp up while frozen with scissors. The fact that the pieces were small and still somewhat frozen by the tiime i dropped em in made em float for a bit. The pigs ate em all up!

that sounds like normal healthy gar behavior! good to hear they eat well for you. what species of gar are they?
