getting a fish off of live food is a pain. its like giving them steak their whole life then placing a salad in front of them. at first they dont want to eat it but eventually they will. im working on a gar now. frustrating!

gars are easy, just dont offer food for a few days, then try. repeat every few days. mine were on live for who knows how long and i had them on pellets within a month.

I can only HOPE he likes the food sticks from hikari, since alot of arowana's based on the boards responses that are hit or miss weither they like them or not.

I weaned our Silver off goldfish using the little rosies, not enough to get him full then I placed Hikari sticks in the tank. Once he started munching down on them the rosies stopped, now he accepts all types of floating pellets, prawns, I just ordered some krill so we will see how that goes...so far he hasn't eaten fd crickets. Nevertheless, he is growing like a weed, coloring up nice. My son for the first time hand fed him prawns last night...good luck keep at it you will find a combination that works for you.

as far as i know hw has only eaten live feeders. he is now around 16". when i throw in prepared food its like it doesnt even exist. i want to try shrimp on him. i think he will accept them. then ill try pellets from there.

Well I hate to try starving him at this stage where he is growing quickly. His is about 4'' now. Ive had him for about 6 weeks, buying him with a sac. I'll keep feeding him fd krill and crickets and try the sticks later.

My aro is a pig! He don't care. That fish will not turn down any food offered. :D I think it's because I fed him different foods while he was still little.
