I haven't tried feeding my rays pellets yet, however i wounder what peoples opinions are when it comes to the subject of pellets vs frozen fish and worms. when it comes down to it, is their a dominate food between these to categories? if so could u explain why? Also i would like to get to know the manufactured recommended foods for rays. im already aware of hikari Carnivore sinking pellets. but im sure there's a whole variety of different manufactured foods out there! i am also aware that feeding them both is probably the best idea! which of course i will in time.

here are pics of my rays eating. its hard to get a good photo of them eating since they like to bounce around when its feeding time. enjoy! because i know they did:naughty:

If you can get them on pellets would be good.
Esp Carnivore pellets.
But include real meat as supplements to the diet is best.

when you say real meat do u mean shrimp and worms or are u talking about actual actual meat? such as cows hearts and so on; i have heard of such things fed to rays!

whats Esp stand for?

Esp=especially
meat I think he meant shrimp and worms as beef heart is mamalian meat and are not food for fish digestive systems.

both... feed a varied diet...

yes i know, i stated that at the top. im just asking for peoples opinions on which they prefer. not everyone on this site thinks the same, and i wish to find out whats their opinion and why?

I feed my rays almost solely raw shrimp except for the occasional super worm that makes it to the bottom (usually the silver dollars get them if the aro doesn't want it). I sometimes soak the cut up raw shrimp over night in azoo liquid vitamins. They seem to be growing well so far (gained 6" in the past year) and recently gave birth to a pair of pups. I will try earthworms in the spring, though.

The pups are eating black worms for the past week and I will try to add tiny pieces of shrimp mixed in soon.

sounds good! how are the pups doing? are the black worms frozen? where did u get them?

The pups are doing well, very active and sometimes climbing the sides of the glass. They are eating the live black worms with 3 feedings per day. I keep the worms in a plastic bowl full of water in the fridge. I rinse the worms every day, pouring off the dirty water and refilling until the water runs clear. I then feed the rays worms with a turkey baster.

I bought the black worms from the same LFS that I originally bought the rays at. He has a couple dozen rays in stock as well as many aros, so I value his advice. He suggested I feed them black worms at first since their mouths were so small.

Good luck with your rays, they look great!
