Pencil Artwork

Nice work guys. I too have a few inked friends with original creations of mine running around the world now (4 confirmed and one awaiting inking). I was actually looking to pick up my pencil again soon.

ok, here's one i did just now at work. no time to shade or nothing. would've liked to go into detail with the snake/dragon thing but can't right now.

quick question, how long does it take you guys to make something like this? just curious. took me like 10-15 min

btw, i totally screwed up by giving her horns, kinda lame and killed the whole sketch for me. if i can redo it, i'd give her one massive horn in the middle of her forhead

I like the head of the snake/dragon, Sumo. The woman looks pretty deadly too. Depending on the size and subject, I can usually crank out a decent sketch in 5-10min. Sketches and simple line drawings come pretty quickly for me. But my large fine art pieces can take me 4+ months to finish because I'm a lot more deliberate when drawing and coloring them. Fine art is more relaxing to me so I like to take my time with them. Drawing and coloring comic characters always gets me hyped and I just can't wait to finish them. When I'm working on something for a customer, I'm on a deadline and I have to get the piece done in the allotted time.

Here are old drawings I dug up...0ver 10 years ago, don't mind the aging of the paper, also my babymama ripped them all up years ago and I tediously taped them up and scanned them and cleaned up the tear lines.

I truly did this on LSD, Black Pyramid gels w/ the gold

you've got some skills bro, those pics look sick! this really inspires me to pick up a pencil again. i like your style, i can tell you are inspired by comic book style drawings. i love the sci fi and mystical creatures stuff

what kind of training/school experience do you guys have?

i've got zero formal training whatsoever. i never even took art class in highschool. everything i do have come from nothing more than a little talent, a lot of practice and a keen eye i guess. but i'm so out of practice, i can feel my hands aren't steady like before when i drew a lot. i feel rushed, impatient and sloppy in my strokes

School will only teach you the fundamentals: how and where to shade, and 3D, etc. Michael Jordan can teach you how to dunk, but not everyones gonna be able to reach the basket. Ive showed and taught a lot of friends throughout the years, some better others not, its the way we all see things. I day dreamed a lot as a kid and my mental visualization is very vivid. I can look at a blank paper and already see what I want to achieve, thats how I know how to get there.

Everything is repetition over and over, practice and practice: just like music, which I was very good at. And I knew I was good because a lot of people told me I was good.
