Here's my answer to a penguin or emperor:
I have 2 Emperor 400s which are 3 yrs old now I find Emperors FANTASTIC best hang on backs I ever used however I cant say same about Penguins.
The only slight change I made was making the holes in spray bar a tiny tiny bit bigger but even cleaning them I just stick a tooth pick in it while it runs it flushes the debris/algae out .
I have taken them off to clean them but no need for it other than once every 6 months
