Soul_assassin, you mean these?

If so, would you go with the 100 micron or the 50?

Yes I think so, buy the best one here (not necesserily the most expensive it will be worth it down the road, I have had the same piece for 3 years and still going strong).
Only $4, I paid $15 for mine in canada, go with the 50, the best thing about this is that you never have to buy those ripoff cartridges again

it will clog fast especially when first used, I rinse my under tap water every 2-3 days

And when it clogs, where does the water go?
My experiance is it bypasses the media and comes out around the intake opening.
Not sure I would want filtration I have to deal with that often.
But, hey, everybody to their own.

I rinse before it clogs...so it never clogs for me but you do make a valid point. Maintenance time is the cost of clear water.

Well it was time today to clean out my gfs penguin and what i did was double up on the pads. So the one that was in there i just cleaned it out and put it in front of the new one, seems to work better and ill do the same thing in my tank until my order from bigals comes in.

I just stuffed an AC 50 foam behind each cartridge, fits perfect. My only concern is what would happen when the foam get dirty/clogged. Will it overflow out the back of the filter?

I just bought polyfiber and stuffed two pieces behind the filter and it works great!

I doubt the water would overflow it would probably just push over it

I Put scrubbies in all off my penguin filters behind the filter pads. Works good.

I have two penguin 350s, one I leave the blue filter pads on but the other one I take them out and fit 16 pot scrubbies in. When I clean them they're full of brown gunk that make my bucket look like liquid poo :D

Will it overflow out the back of the filter?

No.
Never happen.
Look at how the filter is constructed.
Take the cover off and watch it run.
You`ll see where the water that can`t get through the media will go.
