I run dual Emperor 400's on several smaller tanks, anmd have always been happy with them. Make sure the spray bar is clean as well. I drilled my holes a little bigger in the spray bar and they work fine for me. More water over the biowheel also helps it turn faster.

I cleaned the cartridges and the axles...it's now spinning. I also put poly fiber in my filters. I took that out and it increased the water flow. Thanks for all the info...I should of known better b4 buying it. I already have a XP4 in the system...so its not integral.

for the amount of electricity they draw, just keep it on there...might try wrapping the original cartridge with that floss and keep an eye on the flow...floss is cheap so you can just unwrap it and toss it and re-wrap with clean stuff...
