Penguin-BioWheel 350s

Well currently it houses three feeder goldfish from my cousin. I typically use this tank as a quarantine for my much larger saltwater system. However, i would like to hatch a baby bamboo or coral catshark in this tank this summer. Also I believe in always over killing filtration. I've heard the emperor 400s are slightly better, but the penguin 350 is almost half the price so i could get 2 for just a bit more. Also, i have never used the cascade 300, I've had more experience with the bio-wheels. Current filter on the tank is a tetra whisper i had laying around, which IMO are kind of crappy.

My 180 has 3 canisters is pushing about 1300gph. That's about 7X the water turn over rate , so I'm a big believer in over filtration. But, I was referring to the amount of current that will be produced in the tank not filtration. Not all fish likes constant, strong current.

I'd be worried about the current as well with even just one of those filters. Heck, my penguin 170 creates an awful lot of current for my 20L ... so much so I had to change it's positioning and decor to help reduce the flow until I can get one of my smaller ones from storage.

it will work fine for your application. I run an AC70 on a 20 longs and have never found it has too much current for anything I have ever stocked.

I have several Penguin 350s also. Theyre good filters, and cheap too. I like that they self prime, but they do make a heck of a racket with sand substrate.

I must say IME most HOBs make a lot of noise with sand substrate. I don't want to drill it and these filters are cheap enough to use. Personally I ACs too, but I think they are a bit over priced for this application.
