Penn Plax CASCADE filter

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes. It started with rocks or gravel rattling around in the motor area....and it IS sealed. Gravel can get in there, but YOU can't.

I'm sure if I really wanted to get that compartment open I can. How else would you change the motor or impeller? It can be fully disassembled but saying that its sealed and gravel and get to it but you cant is just wrong.

Got 2 1500's on my 75 Gallon love the might be replacing them with a Fx5 in the future just for added filtration.

Give it a shot and get back to us..............I think I may still have the motor in my junk pile in the shed. Ill look later and see what it takes to open. In my case, there is nothing to lose. I'll take photos.

Glade to see a lot of people stand by these.

Just picked up two free tanks today (along with 6 fish that got donated for new hones) and they came with two Cascade filters. Not sure if the tanks will get set up as aquariums or not, but extra filters are always handy. Might even set one up on my 40 breeder possibly...

I've been keeping fishes and fish tanks for over 40 years and it's as disappointing a filter as I've seen. Bad enough that I thought I'd post about it. It's just my opinion, though.
