the simple answer is why are you in charge of his penalty, the supreme court allows for the death penalty in murder cases.how many times have we found out the evidence was wrong ....if the answer is even once ,thats too many, executing leaves no room for user error(juries)once again what if YOUwere the one that needed thinning(according to some nutcase)they cant make you undead.but you can be released from jail .as far as repeat sex-offenders jail without release is ok with me and if you REALLY had to flip the switch on ole sparky instead of talking hypothetical "bad guys"you might not be so anxious to violence.

To me thats somewhat argueable. What I, some of the general population, and some of the "herd thinners" are saying is if you bring some of the stupidness like what we saw in these articles around me or mine, yes I will use violence. Im not saying Id hunt a guy down who I though got off easy. I also don't understand why you're soo fast to give a con the benefit of the doubt, because a few cases in the context of billions were wrong? Can you name anything in this world that is perfect? Do you know how many cons get off on stupid technicalities?

i dont dis agree with violent use of SELF DEFENSE ,giving people life imprisnment is hardly "benifit of the doubt " I'd say that qualifies as a civilized society's JUST AND RATIONAL punishment .once again putting into pespective the actual small % of tax dollars "wasted"on keeping criminals away from society.remember were the ONLY western civilizationwith the death penalty ,do you really think its had a positive effect on us as a counry .if yes ,what issues ,OTHER than saving money, are the benifits,do you think it deters violent crime ? if so why do you think crime rate is so high(highest among first world nations) peace:)ps as far as cons getting off on stupid technicalities those "technicalities " are the rule of law that make it possible for YOU as a citizen to get A FAIR TRIALif you are ever wrongly accused of a crime, remember it isnt just the "bad guys" who get accused of crimes .

I dont know how I got into debating the death penalty, but Ill give you props because it seems ultimately you want to do things in a civil way and we're both on the same page there. Sometimes I think we were issued different books though :)peace

thanks for a civil debate ,see you around the water cooler

question ....was the colorado movie killer "a herd thinner"....

Gotta say didnt think this thread was going to stay civilized. Thats all I have to say about any of this

an honest debate never hurts anyone ...its the hard core 'wingers'that try patience....and yeah I am aware that I start (finish)a lot of trouble at the old lounge

Well first serial/mass killers are generally indiscriminate as to their killing. You can't compare violent felons and unarmed civies. Which is the crux of your argument. Should the average person or any one take the law into their own hands, no. Monkey see monkey do so it will devolve from killing violent felons to killing j walkers.

The death penalty does not serve as a deterrent and it's way more expensive than life time incarceration. However living every day and knowing that I'm feeding, clothing and sheltering someone who committed heinous acts doesn't sit well. I'm lucky enough to not be be related to any victims of these predators. Think of how the victims family feels about supporting those violent scum. Since my ultra left state banned work gangs and the local prisons are fairly pleasant it just feels wrong. They have cable, a gym congigal visits etc. Now if my local prisons was more like Lubyanka (sp) in Russia or even Riker's Island NY different story. Many of the same people that oppose the death penalty support prison reform, which is a coded word for making prison pleasant. On the other hand I'm uncomfortable with permitting a government that so far has been unable to do anything right with being able to legally kill. So in general I'm on the fence or shy away from execution except in extreme cases like the CT murders.

As to the question of "If I need to be thinned": Well I have an MS in biomedical engineering so if I decompensated for what ever reason I'd hope someone put me down before I rained suck on innocent people. More so if the situation was temporary. Coming to and realizing that I have that much innocent blood on my hands would be far worse than being dead.
