what qualifications does one have to have to be considered a reliable source ? from the very first time I've gotten on here i have read words like reliable reputable honest the list goes on and those so called re "lie" able sources in the end feelings get hurt pockets get's drained your sitting in front you fish tanks wondering if my fish is what my quote on quote reliable sources tell me. hum are you really f0? do you really come from the place where they say you're from? and in the end you try to convince yourself that it's a nice looking fish, and they are really flawed to no end. its a crying shame to lie to people just to make a buck come on just be honest sell them for what they are f1 f2 f3 or what ever "lets not get had by our so called re "lie" able sources " now my advice to you all is to go sit in front of your tanks and ponder think on that on. signed and written by TruMidasKing and Phantom Co. Thats why i never buy a fish w/o seeing it in person, also some people have different standards when it comes to grading fish! Everyone is trying to make $$ and sadly it gets in the way of the true love of our hobby!!! Were all here for fish afterall and if a dollar is the difference between honesty and BS then the heck with them, sadly its the same in ALL pet trades!

sooooo tru and it is sad but touching

Business reputations for honesty/integrity are built on a good track record, with consensus among many people and different types of buyers.
I'm a small hobbyist with rural town, poor LFS. It's a minimum 3 1/2 hr drive to get quality fish (special ordered) more like 5 or 6 hrs to a major store.
I checked out reputations before ordering fish shipped from Jeff Rapps. Nothing unusual, but for HEALTHY fish and the vigor of F1. Purchase prices are no more than a store. Shipping fees are a non-issue, considering gas prices.

I can't be very sympathetic to your problem. If someone purchases from a source before checking them out, it's their own chosen risk.. just like when I bought knife fish from stores (more than once) and drove 5 hrs home with them, then watched them die from prior exposure to disease. NO recourse for me. I did see them before purchase, and no illness showed.

OK, you're talking about other qualities, but the same options apply when ordering for them.
Live and learn. Even ordering from good sources, you either have to order a bunch of juvies and grow them out, then keep the best, or pay for older specimens. There are quality differences within the same batch of fry from GREAT parents.

I mean seriously, are you completely without options, as far as changing up your stock?

dude, first you are way. off I'm not ordering anything you need to go back and read. i don't have the problem my options are very open, not my fault you got to drive 5 hours or how ever many hours you have to drive from your rural area. i don't need sympathy from you cause i don't have the issue nor will i allow myself to have that issue.
Im just stating the facts that these so call reputable sources that they claim are reputable are not as reputable as one may think. i don't need you schooling me about batches of spawns because i know these things, and those fish that you bought talking about you watched them die from disease after you got them home. you didn't stop to think that maybe it was your diseased water? ;)

I can't be very sympathetic to your problem (Correcting myself: "THIS problem, not YOUR problem"). If someone purchases from a source before checking them out, it's their own chosen risk.. just like when I bought knife fish from stores (more than once) and drove 5 hrs home with them, then watched them die from prior exposure to disease. NO recourse for me. I did see them before purchase, and no illness showed.

Live and learn (this was not aimed at you. it's what we all have to do). Even ordering from good sources, you (this, intended to be a generalized reference, not a "lecture" at YOU) either have to order a bunch of juvies and grow them out, then keep the best, or pay for older specimens. There are quality differences within the same batch of fry from GREAT parents.

I mean seriously, are you (Correcting myself: "these disappointed people, in general") with completely without options, as far as changing up your (their) stock?

No prob for me to correct myself when my post came off wrong. I hurried through reading & writing my post. You & anyone else can either read & accept my above inserted REphrased text, or not.
Nevertheless, I stand by my intent regarding the general principle of Seller reputations and buyer risks.

As for your deliberate insult/accusation towards me: I did not put the knife fish I bought into "diseased water". I put them in a healthy QT tank, alone. FYI, The only reason I posted that was to point out that ordering fish shipped from REPUTABLE BUSINESSMEN does not all stem from some kind of elitist desire for F-whatever fish.
Also, buyers are sometimes as responsible for disappointing outcomes as sellers are.

Lastly, I'm NOT a dude.
All you had to do was read my avatar/ID has a female name and/Nana.

Lol. Clockwork i know plenty of "chicks" that are tougher then most men! Sadly!

TMK: Way to hold ur own buddy, seems like ppl buying crap fish like to take it out on u, backfire thread for sure! I like your style
