Canada... i wish.
hey everone currently i have an 84 gal tank with two oscars, two balas, two angels and a tt eel. the tank is running on two eheim pro II 2028 canister filters filled with ceramic rings and eheim subtrate pro. lately my water has been quite clowdy and i was wonder if this idea would be alright:

eheim pro 2 filled with:
bottom tray: ceramic rings with coarse filter bad
middle tray: eheim substrate pro
top tray: seachem purigen with filter floss on top

ive herd that seachem purigen is almost better than act. carbon and it really helps with water levels and water clarity... which i REALLY REALLY need in my tank since i have been trying to keep my water clear and safe for my fish.

tell me what you guys think and if any suggestions about seachem purigen or any other product i should use. THANKS :headbang2

almost a month and the tank was cylced for a month using some of the original water from my old 55 gal.

water from your old tank wont cycle your new tank... u need either filter material from the old tank or the gravel from the old tank to kick start the good bacteria colony. do u have test kits. id check your ammonia, nitrites and nitrates and see what they are at. id say water change and feed less til the bacterial bloom is gone.

Check your water stats. If you find your ammonia is high, I would buy some ammonia absorbant chemical filtration just to bring the ammonia down to a safe level and then remove it so the tank can cycle properly.

all my water levels are at really safe numbers. so iono, i agree that i might have a bact. bloom, but iono. so would act. carbon help clear up the water or should i stick with seachem purigen.

agreed. sounds like you are fighting a losing battle.

more filters won't help.

how often are you changing water?

right now i am doing about a 30% every weekend. but after my water changes my water becomes reallly clowdy and iono why. i add api salt to the tank as a stress reducers and do you think it would be the salt reacting to the pfs making it clowdy? and also in one of my canisters the inlet and outlet tubes have these wierd green dot/colonies growing on the inside and iono if thats algae or bacteria growing making my tank water cloudy. :nilly::nilly: thats all i can think right now.. i planning on taking out my bala sharks since they seem to big for the tank now...

If it's a milky white clouding then it's a bacteria bloom. Your filter can't handle the amount of waste the fish are putting out.

Take out an Oscar and maybe a bala, step up water changes to twice a week and see if that helps.

Purigen in your filter couldn't hurt, so try that, too.

You don't need to add salt or worry about the little algae spots in your filter tubes.
