If it's a milky white clouding then it's a bacteria bloom. Your filter can't handle the amount of waste the fish are putting out.

Take out an Oscar and maybe a bala, step up water changes to twice a week and see if that helps.

Purigen in your filter couldn't hurt, so try that, too.

You don't need to add salt or worry about the little algae spots in your filter tubes.

alright i think thats the problem.... yeah ima take out the two bala sharks as they are the biggest ones in the tank. ill keep my oscars and angels though :D lol and as for the media ima use ceramic rings in the bottow, eheim sub pro in the middle and carbon inbetween filter pads with zeolite or de nitrate on top of that with a polishing pad on the very top :D lol hopefully that'll work....

would it be bad if i just used eheim sub pro on the bottow tray and use the top two trays for chemical filtration?

I would fill your top tray with more ceramic (or bio) and have patience. It took about four months for my tanks to get really clear. And keep up on your water changes.
If you have enough Bio, then you don’t need chemical.

Not to steal your thread but my 180 gallon is getting cloudy too. All my water parameters are perfect....0 Ammonia and Nitrite, 20-40 Nitrate, PH around 7.2 and temperature is around 86. Even when I do water changes it will clear up for a min or two and then get cloudy again. I read this thread and all the advices seems to do with too much fish and not enough filtration, but I don't think that is my case as I usually do 25% water change daily...Any suggestions??

as said before.. its prob a bacterial bloom. or maybe you should do 25% change once a week to save you BB colonies. thats my thoughts.

iono for my tank, ima let it run for a month or two and see what happens. if not ima buy some chemi pure elite as it seems to be the best product to me right now.
