Perch Fishing

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I can't see the picture cause it's been removed but couple days ago I caught 5 jumbo perch all over a lb each, biggest one coming in at just under 2lb.

Here is the days catch. About 60 in the cooler total. Gave 30 away and cleaned the rest myself.

I cannot see the photo either but under a conservation license you may keep 25, sporting license allows 50 per day. Were you fishing alone or was there someone else there fishing as well?

I know perch are thriving in the Great Lakes but it always annoys me how many people keep. Pa says 50 per person per day so last Sunday while I was out in 60' FOW I see some guys heading in saying they've got 3 limits of perch (150 total fish). That's just ridiculous! They'll go bad before you can eat them all and you don't even need that many! Maybe it's just me but if I could change the fish commission creek limits I'd make it 10 perch per day per person.

While 150 may be excessive you're right, but do you fish fry very often? Love fish fry's, 50 small perch doesn't go far between 4 people really. Idk maybe it's just me, but after the pain in the ass cleaning them i work up an appetite, batter them and start popping them like fries. There's a reason limits so high, only rare perch is a blue perch, don't eat those haha.
