If it was a native killifish i'd be really happy and pissed I let em go lol.
The pics you took show the fish to only have one dorsal fin placed way back on the body while the link to the perch you posted has two dorsal fin segments (first spiny, second soft) placed midway on the body. I'm almost positive they were some type of killie but it's hard to say for certain without better pics and the state/town location.
