There are no varanus giganteus in private collections in the USA.
There is however, varanus varius (lace monitor), varanus spenceri (Spencer's monitor), varanus tristis (black headed monitor) varanus brevicuda (pygmy monitor) varanus gouldii (sand monitor) varanus panoptes (argus monitor) varanus storii, varanus kingorum, varanus gilleni, varanus storii, varanus glauerti (Kimberly rock monitor) varanus prasinus (green tree monitor) and varanus mertensi (mertens water monitor)
A few others have been imported from UK lines and smuggled, but giganteus hasn't made it in commercially. Especially for $1k, if lace monitors (v. varius) has been bred by almost a dozen people and still go for over $6k each and more for the bells phase.
