Perfecto 265 tank - what is it worth?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Its a tough call. I have been bitten by *settling* for somethig else. But there is also a cost to value threshold too. To spend exponentially more money for just a little bit more is hard to swallow sometimes. I am a "best bang for your buck" type of guy.

Sent the seller an e-mail with a few more questions. It's really hard to pass up this aquarium for this price. Plus, I just received a few fish from the fish farm today so I am going to have to have another tank set up in the near future.

I paid 800 for mine it came with stand, lids ug and uder gravel and 3 pwr head filters and light. The stand sells for 450 new. I will say in 2005 (my build date on mine) they did not have bottom cross beams. But it seems fine its been up for bout six months now

im pretty sure the 250 i have is a glass perfecto. not sure if all their tanks are like this or not, but my glass has a green tint to it. while its nothing too bad, it has got more and more annoying over the time ive had it. while i know my water is crystal clear, it still has a slight green hue to it thru the glass.

figured id point that out, as im sure it may annoy someone else too.

Sounds to me like you should get the 265g. Once you buy the 300 or 340g then you sell the 210g:)

I would almost say go with a new class cages tank. You can get an 8' long 240 for only 600ish from them. Even the 340 wasn't much more. I would rather spend more on the glass, since it is capable of doing the most damage to my house if it has issues.

my only beef with Perfecto tanks is that they are not as well built as Aqueon (formerly Allglass) tanks.

the silicone work on current marineland/perfecto tanks is much thinner than that found on Aqueon tanks and the cross braces of the trim are flimsy in comparison. I did a lot of side by side comparisons between the two when I was deciding which brand to go with when I got my new 150 gallon..went with Aqueon no question.

when dealing with huge tanks, you want maximum quality..

problem is, Aqueon's largest tank is a 210..

The 300 will be at least a foot longer. However, I am kind of thinking about getting the 340 from glasscages. It is almost 11 foot long. That would be pretty cool even though it is only two feet deep (front to back). The actual measurements are 130"x24"x25'. I just haven't convinced myself of doing the drive or spending that much money.plus I've read quite a few negative reviews of their tanks so that has me worried as well.

Do you have alot of fish that wont get longer than say 20 inches? if so I'd with the 340 long. PLENTY of swimming space say for a big male jag a dovii a leichardi maybe two orino p-bass and 2 dats. That would be freaking awesome.take the dovii or jag out and add a school of big 4-5" loaches, 5-7+.
