Hi guys im looking into a perruno catfish but i need some more info, pls.
1- max size in aquaria
2- food
3- tank mates
4- easyness to keep
5- min tank size
6- etc, etc
i have been looking at this web site and would like to know if it is correct?

http://fish.mongabay.com/species/Perrunichthys_perruno.html

I have a 4ftx20inchx28inch (LxWxH) 400ltrs or 115gals

cos they look sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet :grinyes: and i want one.
thanks guys

Hey rust9000,

a friend of mine had one of these. They indeed look very nice. But there real eating monsters. They eat almost anything that fits in there mouth and can eat a lot. Seeing your 115 is only 20 inch wide I would not suggest it. I think the site is correct about the size, so a wider tank would be required to keep it for life.

Cheers

the fish is probably not a perruno its more likely L Longibarbus or marmoratus as it was once called.
they get 2'+ and grow really fast i had one that grew 4'' in 1 month and when it got too about 14'' i sold it when i bought a tigrinus.
as for food they do eat anything from whitebait/prawns to sinking pellets.
easy to keep imo
large tankmmates are reqd due to its eating habits
as for min tank size i would say bigger than you have at the moment.

thanks guys Dixon how much am i looking to pay for a 6" cat?? in £££££s pls.

Get yourself a striped raphael. Hardy, cheap and a great scavenger.

How is the cycling going on your 100gal? Do you have any fish in there,? Because you need ammonia to start the cycle. You could do a fishless cycle, but you'll need to add ammonia.

Cheers

Hi i sold my 100g cos it was cheap looking and bought a good rena tank tank which is coming on well today, so and its an extra 28gallons more. so thats why want a perruno catfish.

Thanks for the info guys gonna get one next week.
are you sure its a "Laurius longibarbis" cos i cant find any info on the web?
