Anyone ever have these or make something with them? Got some today and made a baked pudding dessert. I now have a new favorite fall dessert.

Really, no one has had these? Don't know what you're missing.

As a kid we had a couple persimmon trees and we just ate them off the tree. The thing about persimmons is they have a small window of "perfect ripeness" If the persimmon is not perfect it is extremely bitter. High risk/high reward fruit lol.

Is that the one with a lemon sauce topping?

My extended family loves and buys a lot of these every year, sometimes by cases, starting around Thanksgiving time. There are basically two different types, one is supposed to be eaten when crunchy, the other one is taller in body shape which must be eaten only when they're very/over ripened and soft.

Fuyu persimmons are the short squatty ones you can eat like an apple. They don't have that bitter furry quality of unripe hachiya persimmons.

Grocery stores here sell the taller type (I admit I don't know names!) without any additional info on when you're supposed to eat them, so I think the customers would be pissed after the first bite... :screwy:
