Is it safe to assume the purple wolf is just a new variant of the red, based on location and coloration? Or is it actually a new species that will be getting its own scientific name...?

No way, look at the mouth. The jaw extend further on the red wolf, the head of the purple wolf is stouter and more rounded instead of sloped.

Very exciting fish! Wish I could get one :irked:
 
Not sure if the purple wolf (second photo) will be assigned it's own scientific name as I am not a taxonomist. All fish have been going through an initial quarantine in Iquitos for the last 2 weeks. It depends on you if you when you want them to go through another quarantine at my place. The wolves are eating pellets and guppies right now in Peru.

The baby electric eels are about 3-4 inches long and yes they will give you a shock (just a little as I held one and got a small shock). They will be $17 each (have only 4 coming in right now).
 
I am not sure of price of some of the fish until I get a handle on the shipping cost. All photos and prices will be posted after the fish arrive..
