Where Palm Trees Grow
Hey guys I was thinking about having a baby alligator as a pet for a awhile then donating him when he gets too big and I found this website that is selling hatchlings and they are very close to where I live and I wanted to get some info on keeping them. You guys got any info?

check with the place you will donate him to once he is to large, some places will not take donations. Also, they can be kept free range (not recommended but I know a bunch of people have done it) and they can be tamed very easily with the exception of breeding season where it will challenge you once or twice before returning to its normal behaviors. They can be great pets and I recommend that if you invest in getting one to go all the way with it. Also, since you are in florida, you need a class 2 permit to get them and that is not easy to do now.

Have you checked the State Regulations yet?

And have you found someone willing to adopt the gator when times come or are you just gonna wing it and hope you can find it a home or sale it to someone who just wants to kill it and eat it?

Hmmmm. I can't have an asian aro, but you can have an alligator.

Donate? Coming from Florida, I didn't know too many institutions were looking for cheap alligators. They're everywhere already!

no
just no
no one is gonna want it. few people except large donations such as that
if u want one build a large enclosure,
thats why i have a 10' by 13' by 4' enclosure so i can keep a dwarf caiman for life. the way it should be

I might plan on getin my uncle to build me one he can build anything. Then I might keep a gator, spectacle caiman or a dwarf caiman.

I was wondering how to get a class 2 permit cause I might keep a caiman and that also requires a permit.

A few zoos around here will take them. And the people that i'm going to order mine from might take it. But I can find a place. I really don't understand why we can have deadly creatures such as anacondas, gators, caimans and other things. But we can't have asian aro's I think that is the dumbest thing Iv'e ever heard in my life.

I am telling you right now that you need to be certain of everything. Call the Zoo and ask them if they are willing to take a gator, call you uncle and ask if he will help you build this, get the permit and save up enough money to feed a gator (not cheap). Once you have done all of these things all the way then you can start looking for a gator for sale.

I told you before and I will tell you again, Class II's are NOT easy to get. I have a venomous permit, a ROC permit, and a class III permit but I still cannot get a class II (and I have been trying for almost a year).
