So MultispeciesTamer, if you don't mind me asking where did you buy your fish. You have an incredible collection. I really want to do my next tank all native species with LMB, crappie, bluegill and channel cat. It's a long way out cuz I will need a pond of a tank (300 gallons+) to throw those bad boys in, but I could really use the help with where to find them. No luck so far in Washington or online.
I got my bass from a Arkansas fish farm the comes to town to sell fish. The channel cats are from a fish farm and my personal one i got from a LFS. The crappie and bluegill are all local caught fish. But i was going to order a bunch of fish from this place but never got the space for the fish so heres a link send them an email and see if thell ship to wear you live http://jonesfish.com/categories/2/1/-img-src-images-buttons-fish-stocking-jpg-border-0-.htm. Best of luck finding natives. Theres also a few other places that sell natives online heres more links

This contradicts the doomsday warnings of megabass that will eat my face off. I just got a LMB off a buddy. I was afraid I'd be building it a pond, but your comment gives me hope. So, how low do you keep your nitrates and what do you feed him? What temp? I wonder if they stay smaller at higher temps.
Here's my baby. Just over 1" in a 20g tall with plants and a big sump. I feed him twice a day with the sump off while he hunts down his critters. A quick blast of the powerhead at his food really gets his predation going. And he watches me, knows that my fingers mean worms. Already taming at day two.
