  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They look great! Are they related then?
thanks everyone, im very happy with how they look! And both seem very healthy.
Im late, but Russ already answered this. Same parents just different litter. If they breed great, i dont think it should be a problem, because im sure that most of the "mutts" that we see today have also been line bred for patterns..etc. whether on purpose or not.
Im not against breeding siblings or breeding back to parents, as long as it is not done over and over again in the same blood.
DB, you must have an opinion since you asked that question? please share.....

I actually asked more cause of the patterns. The few rays I have breeding seem to produce somewhat predictable traits, the 2 you have seem to have very different patterns, different enough I find it crazy that they are from the same parents..... They are both very nice, but at different ends of the Marble pattern spectrum if you know what I mean?!

I personally won't cross lines, I've sacrificed breeding potential in order to keep close tabs on lines and have no plans on ever crossing them at this time. Doesn't mean I wouldn't ever think about it. IF proven to me that this is the way to get the nicest rays and the way everyone else does it then hey! Why not dabble a bit? I know this is how the fancy dogs are produced but not sure if anyone's proven this is the way or not to go with rays?

I'm pretty opened minded to the whole idea all in all. Would love to hear from others, I mean especially the ones producing stand out quality rays! Is this how they're made???

yea i agree.. We will see, i never thought i would end up with marbles so anything could change.... maybe i will end up with more before this female gets mature :) if the right one appears...
I dont know a lot about marbles, but i dont think they have way different patterns. I guess time will tell.. you have been looking at marbles way longer than I have, so i believe it when you say they are way different patterns tho.... when i first got the male his pattern had already started developing as he was 8 months old... this little girl still has a lot of changing to go thru, since she is a little over 2 months old. The male changed a bunch from a couple months to a year and a half. He changed a bunch just from the 8 months i had him!

I bet you'll get more...... lol.

What's not to love -the patterns vary a bunch, they change, and some don't get that big.....

Really opens up a world of possibilities as far as what you can keep with rays - Tiger Dollars are a perfect example.... Can't have them if you have big rays - keep them all day long stress free with Marbles. Same with Discus if you're into them, I have a huge group of Ornate Pims I'll be keeping with my lil Marbles. In the presence of my larger rays they would simply be chew toys.

I have 4 of my favorites in a 6x3 and even with 2 of the ladies pregnant I still feed that tank about the same as a single big blackie......
