Pet Owls

When I was a like 10 me and my friend pulled two screch owls out of a nest (I know that really bad but I was like 10 and didn't know better) I keeped him for a few months and then let him go when he was big enough and ever since then at lest 1 or 2 of the 3 screch owl boxes on my propety have been filled every year and they all shack up in the barn owl box I put up at my nabhors in the winter. My 62 year old dad is just finishing out his falconry aprentaceship and I keep saying I'm gonna find the time to get mine but I'm just to rapped up in my reptile to put the time in. But I'm probably going to try and start aprentaceing next year cause me and my father have a wildlife control bussnes and eventualy are going to incorperate bird abatement into the company. (I don't know if any falconers are reading this thread but I do know the diffrence bettween bird abatment and falconry/hawking and I don't have the energy to get into detail about my understanding of the argument) but when I do eventualy get my general license I would love to get a great horned owl my dad keeps telling me about this guy on one of the forums he frequents that hunts one with an led light to keep track of it. saposidy owls are incrediby dificult to train for falconry purposes but I think the fact that there so layed back is what atracts me to them.

You need a falconry license to get them and even then, you are supposed to trap them although I do think you might be able to get them from a bird rescue if you talk to the right people. Honestly, I am not sure though.

what do you mean if they need rehab, you think thisthread is going to make us go and climb trees or dig burrows to find random willing owls to keep.

my grandparents took care of a great horned owl after it injured its self trying to get to their pheasants, kind of ironic
