PETA sue Seaworld for enslave the whales...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Im sorry but, they complain about the whale that get feed and i doubt the get miss treated, then they need to do the same for the seeing eye dogs then.

Absolutely wrong. very few of them are captive bred. Many of these animals will not breed in captivity, unless artificially inseminated.

Do some research, man.

Actually, MANY of the animals you see in parks these days are captive bred animals. Especailly when it comes to marine mammals. Most are either results of captive breeding programs or rescue/non releasable animals.

Zoodiver, you don't think Orcas would get mental stimulation from each other? Putting things in the enclosures to make them use their brains would work. For instance, to copy spy hopping put a platform that can rock with fish or some other treat that could dropped from above to encourage thinking. Toys of all kinds would be the same but something to replicate more nature. I didn't say hide the animals. You can see an Orca in an enclosure but have the viewing sections wrap around the habitat. Even 3/4 would be sufficient for people to view. The orcas can be fed 3 times a day for public view but the remaining times should let people see Orcas be themselves. The fish are all in view including the whale sharks at the Georgia Aquarium but they are all just swimming freely.

I don't know of any place in the US that doesn't do all of those things you suggested and MORE. As well as the typical stuff you see. Most places block off the larger marine mammals to give them time away from the spotlight. This is done after decades of research showing that is how they do best.... sometimes have people around, sometimes leave them to their own devices.

PETA is retarded for using shock tactics and publicity stunts to get media attention. I hate them.

But I agree that cetaceans shouldnt be kept in captivity. It's necesarry in the cases of injured animals that cant be released but IMO in other situations it's wrong. Now I know some people wont agree... but that's how I feel. Too bad that, with PETA on the case, change will most likely never come.

The tactics peta uses are not for 'shock'. What's shocking is how the animals are really treated. I don't defend peta, they blow. I believe them to be a covert gov't operation intended to suppress true animal rights activism [see, animal enterprise terrorism act. I can't even protest out of state, if I'm caught carrying a sign about animal rights out of state, i'm a terrorist]

People refuse to look. People refuse to admit to themselves or anyone else that this IS going on, it is RAMPANT, and it is WRONG. the claim that 'this is footage from one place, they aren't all like this'. 90% of the pork in the united states is killed my smithfield. That goes for chicken, cow, eggs, etc. There are a handful of companies that practice the same. You really think your beef was humanely killed? They don't have time. Their facilities are horrifying. Why do you think they don't put surveillance cameras in slaughter houses? hmm?

Same with fur coats. You know how the animals are killed for fur? They are either 1. Stomped to death. I've seen this. I've seen foxes crying out, with split skulls, blood pouring from their eyes and nose, while the one committing the act of abuse is laughing. They, like baby pigs, are also picked up by the hind legs and slammed to the ground repeatedly. This is not isolated. This is rampant. This is because many of the people who take these jobs are sadistic. The rest are usually illegal immigrants without a choice and many of them speak out when they can't take anymore.

You ever hear of Billy Joe Gregg?

My point is that it goes on. A lot. and seaworld is no different. I know a doctor of animal behavior [I won't name names, he works in toronto] and my spouse was a student of his. Guess what? she dropped the program because it does go on. This professor wasn't a part of it, but he did look the other way. WHether they are captive or wild-caught makes no difference. They are being held against their will. If any of these things were happening to dogs and cats, we would all be outraged, but when it's some other creature we ignore it. it's not important.

and yes, this point is also valid, because all other animals are no different. They are capable of experiencing suffering. We allow it.

I challenge all of you to watch the film earthlings. It can be seen on youtube. Most will shut it off right away and call it something stupid like 'peta propaganda', but it has nothing to do with peta. They will called it misleading because these things are isolated cases made to look like the normal circumstances, but this is also untrue. And yet, the people who say this are the people who refuse to watch it.

The horrifying truth is, and all of you know it - if you were forced to actually acknowledge and watch the atrocities unfold before your eyes, you would feel guilty. and ashamed. and angry. You would accept that these industries are unimaginably cruel. and you would lose sleep.

you sleep better by saying it's rare, isolated, etc. Sleep better telling yourselves peta is dishonest, and therefore the undercover footage is invalid. If that eases your conscience, then you're afraid to look. Deep down, I think many of you people are. That's why you insult us, laugh at us. I get ridiculed daily at work for eating tofurky sandwiches. I never say a word about what my co-workers eat. It makes them feel better.

People are threatened by my lifestyle. Especially men. Veganism isn't "masculine". Watch the film. I challenge you. Take a look at the horrifying abuse that you pay for every time you shop at the supermarket, buy a fur coat, buy leather goods, etc. Otherwise, don't you dare say a word about this movement being misleading and propagandist.

Wake up.

I know all of this and I sleep pretty good at night thank you very much; and I rather enjoy my leather goods and meat from stores.

Do you know how some animals kill others for food? Like those foxes you cry about to rats? or wild dogs to impalas?

Humans are no different.

Do you know how many plant life YOU have consumed? Do you know they sense pain? What are YOU going to do about it? Starve?

Good post, and I don't doubt what you say, but I still won't give up my ribeye steaks, pork chops and chicken breasts. Can't do it. Not even an option.

PETA might be nuts but they certainly aren't terrorists.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals = PETA....actually a terrorist group

with quote like this:

If we really believe that animals have the same right to be free from pain and suffering at our hands, then, of course we're going to be, as a movement, blowing things up and smashing windows ... I think it's a great way to bring about animal liberation ... I think it would be great if all of the fast-food outlets, slaughterhouses, these laboratories, and the banks that fund them exploded tomorrow. I think it's perfectly appropriate for people to take bricks and toss them through the windows ... Hallelujah to the people who are willing to do it.

and donations to groups like ELF, one wonders.
