I thought that I had to share this with you all today. I just found out that we are now able to store order cage carpet for our reptiles cages starting today. Maybe someone at the corporate level finally listen to all the complaints from the employees and customers about hatchlings being on sand. Never under estimate that your complaints will go unheard. If you never speak up nothing will get done. This is one step in the right direction. Hopefully we can change other policies.

Well I agree that reptile carpet is better than sand when dealing with baby or juvenile geckos but it still can be a breeding ground for bacteria if not properly cleaned. I don't think the petsmart near me ever kept their baby leopard geckos on sand either.

i completely agree! for babies! As for older ones.. im open to everything
 
They would use on babies. Once they are larger, then they would switched to sand. Cleaning could be an issue, but as long they had spares to change and they still spot cleaned I think it might be better. I know everyday I work (5 days a week) I spot clean all the animals as I feed in the morning, including scooping up poop in the bearded dragons and leopard gecko's cages. Hey baby steps, at least they seem to be listening.
 
Interesting, all it takes is one voice,one person,one action.

My GM got a message on the portal Friday, saying that we are now able to store order it. We were unable to order it this week because we had just placed our store use order on Thursday for the next two weeks. We now are going to start receiving shipments every two weeks instead of once a week. We wouldn't use it right now for our leos because they are already good size but it would be nice for the baby bearded dragons we have.
