Petco has reached a new low.

I went to Petco to buy food for my snake and a couple guppies. This certain Petco is not bad...until now. I was wandering around, and decided to see the male and female bettas they had for sale in the little circular plastic containers. And my eyes were not decieving me; one of them had a male Betta, and a female! The female (not surprisingly) was almost dead...Petco, what the hell is the meaning of this?

If this is the worst that your Petco store has to offer, consider yourself lucky.

I no longer have any respect for petco. Petsmart, they seem to have cleaned up their act a little bit. At least all the Petsmarts in the DFW area seem semi-respectable with half-knowledgable staff. Petco on the other hand...

With how many fish they move in and move out, mistakes are bound to happen. It's not as bad as seeing them in containers at other stores with only enough water to lay on thier sides, thats just negligence, a m and f betta together that was just a mistake, so I don't think that is really reaching "a new low"

I can almost guarantee you it wasn't anyone at petco responsible. I work at a petco a few days a week and although im the only one maintaining the bettas, no one is cruel like that...........EXCEPT customers. All the time i notice that sick people have put two in one cup. Besides that, bettas come in tiny little bags. The only time there are two together is two males occasionally, and thats the fault of the wholesaler/distributor. And they are usually fine because there is barely enough room for one to move.

But alas, i really doubt anyone at the store did it. It had to be some sick idiot...
