Petco has reached a new low.

It's so sad to keep bettas in small cups. Petco should just put them all together in one of their larger tanks.

Cant really do that, they'd fight, but Id like to see one betta in each non cichlid tank, maybe put one in each tetra tank instead of the little cups.

I no longer have any respect for petco. Petsmart, they seem to have cleaned up their act a little bit. At least all the Petsmarts in the DFW area seem semi-respectable with half-knowledgable staff. Petco on the other hand...

my petsmart is actually pretty good, the people in the fish department actually know alott about the fish there.

I can almost guarantee you it wasn't anyone at petco responsible. I work at a petco a few days a week and although im the only one maintaining the bettas, no one is cruel like that...........EXCEPT customers. All the time i notice that sick people have put two in one cup. Besides that, bettas come in tiny little bags. The only time there are two together is two males occasionally, and thats the fault of the wholesaler/distributor. And they are usually fine because there is barely enough room for one to move.

But alas, i really doubt anyone at the store did it. It had to be some sick idiot...

I agree. I would have to deal with this every once in a while (when I managed stores). I just wanted to catch some little bastard customer putting them together. This is not an employee or store act. It's a pathetic customer looking to get his rocks off....

edit: You guys can't seriously think the store would do that!!! (headshake)

i was just at petco today and saw about three dead bettas floating in their cups. made me really sad, and i wanted to go over there any B**** the people out, in a nice way that is.
i hate it when they have dead fish in tanks too, its so negligent of them to not take them out.

"i hate it when they have dead fish in tanks too, its so negligent of them to not take them out."

Also good business sense. Fish are bound to die in a petstore, but if a customer sees a dead fish they wonder if the others in the same tank might get sick and die.
