You have to admit though that there are alot less people like you out there who are knowledgeable working in these stores. I'm just lucky my local petsmart is pretty well-run, although I did once see about 8 4-5" RDs crammed into one of those small holding tanks.

I agree, and I worked at a Petco while I was in high school and college. There are a lot of poeple that are only knowledgeable in certain areas, and then there are some people who don't know their ass from their elbow. As I've said in any thread like this, people need to be educated BEFORE they go in there. Then they will know what to accept as fact versus fiction.

People also have to remember that these are corporations, so either you do what corporate tells you or you can find another job. For an example, we got "Plan-o-grams" for fish...yes "Plan-o-grams". Apparently, in corporate's point of view, fish are supposed to coexist according to what is deamed proper from a guy behind a desk. We would constantly move fish around in an attempt at harmony in those small holding tanks, but no matter how many times we would explain that you can't put 6 Red Devils together in a 15 gallon tank...it would fall on deaf ears.

Apparently in the corporate world they don't key in on representative common names like, Red DEVIL & Green TERROR.

Yes, yes, yes. We acutally just re-plan-o-gramed the fish. Best selling fish in the middle were everyone can see them and their easier to reach and harder to sell fish on the top, where noone will see them. Thankfully the other girl that does aquatics with me does the ordering also and knows whats what. we only have 1 RD in at a time. The problem is, our petco is short handed so everyone does everything. Other associate one pwns the small animal department but when asked to get a reptile/fish/bird etc he/she doesnt know anything. I tend to wonder off into aquatics as soon as i get there and dont come back out till closing.

my petco is an idiot. they told me that the silver Aro over there would get 15ft. they also told me that i would have to hold the fish over the security alam when yu walk out or the fish wuld get a heart attack.lmao. i told them their oscar tank was severly over crouded and they should get a airstone in it and they told me that the tank has a good filter. i also saw fish dieing countless times be cause they forgot to take them out of the bags. some people their were just too stubbern to do any thing, alot of those oscars died.
