Yes, Petco IS insane (especially on the corporate level -- and all you employees know what I am talking about). I happen to run the fish dept. in my store for 6 years now.
I just sent all of my pond supplies to the clearance table today. Hagen 400 water pumps marked down to $20 from $80. I just recently sold an Oceanic 50 gallon stainless steel tank/glass canopy/ flo light/cabinet for $200 from $500.
It's all to get rid of the old to make room for the new.
If you are into African Cichlids, go and check out their assorted lot on delivery day, you can find some nice gems in there for $8.99. I picked up a beautiful electric blue hap and some nice looking peacocks for under $5 (not to mention my discount and sale price).
