petco or petsmart? maybe neither!!

Can't say I've been to Petco or Petsmart. Out of the Petlands around my area the best is in Chillocothe, maybe because they have a corporate office there too.

For good quality fish though I usually get my stuff at the lfs chain Berts.

hm. interesting comments. i have to say that i favor petsmart over petco, but in the end, how much truthful info do you realy get? its really hard to say and it all has to do with location, but i agree that your better bet is with a privatly owned store.

PERSONALLY -

I've heard blatantly WRONG advice and info handed out at large chain stores AND super specialized LFSs. My advice - do your own freakin' research before you buy!

haha, i have the opposite problem, every time my and my friend go in this one girl follows around asking like every 2 sec if we need help. and then she talks to us like we dont know anything. so annoying, now when we go we hide from her

if u didnt notice theres a few of us on here brave enough to work at said stores. I work at petco and Amesbien used to work at the petsmart here too (but he doesnt anymore). After the new general manager took over and this other girl came in things have really changed around the fish department is back on track and the store is great. there really isnt much around here thats worth going to with an hour and half drive so i make do. But i do my best to give people the proper information which with our selection is rather easy. Soon i will taking the test to be an aquatics specialist.

thats good, but the point we were trying to make is that the majority of the stores have employees who no nothing about fish. i should have probably worded the first post better, but all the petsmarts and petcos ive been to have been nothing but a waste of time.

?? interesting post. im not good at public appologies but we wernt trying to pick on anybody in particular, whether you work their or not, we were just simply stating our past experiences!! sorry again, but dont take it personal, but you work for a company that alot of ppl would rather not deal with!! at any rate good luck on your test, and petco should give you a big raise, because according to this forum, its hard to come across good information.
