Also, I've read that their jaws dislocate easily. Based on what I've experienced, I believe this to be completely accurate. If this happens the fish can't eat and dies.
I nearly lost my green to this i pulled him out and stretched his jaw out and it came right after a week.

Dumb question time...

Do they have a personality at all? Are they like oscars in that the have owner recognition and beg for food?

I really am considering one in my new 210g set up.
Mine does if its really hungry, she just kinda chills in her spot until feeding time.

Thank you for the answer. I'm not sure if a snook is really what I want. I am at a crossroads on my stock and my Midas is starting to get so aggressive, that Im thinking about changing him out. But I will say he does have a ton of personality. I was hoping for similar but less aggression. Looks like its an oscar as a replacement then with maybe a snook as a secondary large fish in the tank.

I have mine in with a 9" bgk a couple of plecos a mono sebae and a turtle he has shown no predation activity yet i hope the rest of his tankmates are well ahead of him in size at the moment so hopefully they are big enough not to be considered food as he gets older.
