I thought it would be fun to start a thread for Petenia Splendida. This is an awesome species that you rarely see kept/ pictures posted of.

They are so awesome, especially at feeding time when they bolt and inhale hand fulls of pellets.

Would love to see everyone who has kept / currently keeps the species post their pictures of them.

The male above is the smallest of this group of 4 and yet has the most attitude, always flaring, always the first to hit the food. Awesome fish and awesome personality

They are very cool fish- I’d love a shoal mixed with reds and “wild type” (both are wild). Funny when you can get the reds you can’t get the greens and vice versa
These and some other less aggressive central’s need their day: Bocourti, heterospila, pearsei and snook

They are great fish who can mix well with majority of others.
I have found they can be intimidating to young/ smaller fish causing them to hide in rock crevices

They are insane when it comes to feeding time, and always so cool to watch them ‘yawn’
The fish pictured above are 11-13 inches (there is 4 P. Splendida, two aren’t pictured) and in a 220G currently, along with 3 Parachromis Multifasciatus (1 male, 2 females) and 7 Cryptoheros Spilurus

I'm wondering if the WetSpotTropicalFish is still the red version. They had it listed Red Bay Snook for many years and no indication that they were ever getting the green form. This past year they have removed the "red" from the common name.

I've only seen the green version available from TangledUpInCichlids.
