I have some pieces of petrified wood I picked up back in the 60's when I was a kid in Arizona. What should I do to prepare them for use in a fresh water aquarium?

You should check to make sure that it doesn't dissolve in water. Damn I thought this was a Beavis and Butthead thread.

By the way, welcome to MFK!

I see that this is going to be quite an experience chatting with you guys. I just didn't want to mess up my wood. I'm not worried about my other wood--I'm using the big V. It works wonders. Gees, I know to rinse or boil it. (the petrified wood!!) Just was wondering if there was a spray sealant or something since the 60's-70'ds. That was the last time I dabbled in this congolmeration. So, b***heads, bring it on!!
Anyway,Thanks for welcoming me. Talk to you soon.

If you can find an aquarium suitable sealant this would prevent it from dissolving. Anyone know of one?

Good thinking. Always protect your wood.
