Petsmart aros

Yeah i was talking to my buddy today and he showed me a binder of all the fish petsmart ever carried and among the vast number of tetra and platies I found a few interesting fish.


Australian arowana
black arowana
silver arowana
jardini arowana
da da knife fish (I forgot what its called its reaaally long and skinny)
RED TAILED CATFISH (they were 29.99 and said they got to 40")

I thought this was crazy. Does anybody's petsmart actually have these fish in stock on a regular basis?

whats an austrailian aro too? I never heard of that one.

Thought I would share that with you guys.

jars and leixs are australian, along with the african and the south americans black and silver, those are the legal ones to have in the US.

about petsmart, i have no idea, too far

I've seen silvers at petsmart before. Sadly.

I'm not sure about petsmart...but at petco aros and rtc's are special order only. Plus the binder isnt fish they can carry necessarily, it all depends on availability for a given week from the wholesaler. I know on the availability form for serest farms it says special order on all the monster fish.

Unless the person doing the ordering has no idea whats going on i doubt you will see any aros in the stores.

Petsmart used to commonly have Black Aro babies in their tanks. We are talking 10 years ago or so. I remember wanting to buy some, but being talked out of it by my LFS guy cause, as he said it, "they all look the same as adults". If memory serves they sold for $15.99........ Still with yolks attached.

Over the years a lot of fish types have come and gone at Petsmart. They seem to have phased out most of the monsters, Clown knives going early this year. I wouldn't expect to see them back again. Now if we could stop selling pacu it would be much better.

Haven't seen any in about two years, but the petcos here in my area always had an Silver aro in stock at $25.99

i agree wit the pacus cause i see to many sold and they go in a 10 for life
