It's not really price fixing, it's the effect of higher oil prices. Filters are made of plastic. Petroleum is used in the manufacturing of plastic. Costs more to produce. Costs more to ship. Expect higher prices to trickle down on almost everything as a result of higher oil prices.
It seems these days that virtually everything is made from some sort or part of a petroleum product, thus justifying (so they think) the price increase.
Goods made from petroleum products go up like oil prices. How can oil companies say they need to raise prices because of limited refining capability, storms in the gulf decreasing production levels, more demand than supply (stop buying $50,000 10mpg suv's), etc. yet they post billions of $$$ in net profit.
When petroluem based products go up, everyone else follows suite just because they can.
If my milk, bread, carrots, etc. are petroleum based, I don't want to eat/drink them.
If the price goes up because it cost more to harvest them due to oil prices, I still need to eat.
That's where they got us. We can boycott by not buying gas for a day or 2 and they just laugh by raising prices even more because they didn't sell 5 billion dollars worth today.

Best thing we can do is not buy them, and maybe support our local mom and pop shops instead.

The only way to reason with big chain stores is to hit them in the pocket. :irked:
and the bible says in the last days People will not buy from their sellers *Sign O da TIMES*

Whenever I go into the store with a printed out price-match, they never question anything. The managers don't know what their online prices are. As a matter of fact, when I got my xp3 for $75, the manager couldn't believe it. She looked at the in-store price and then my receipt, and said "Wow, nice deal."
