Petsmart feeders?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
what are feeding the feeder to? and i don't trust feeders, anywhere, without QT them for 2 month.

i trusted our pet store. (Pet supplies plus) but im not sure about your petsmart. Your best bet is to buy a dozen and keep them in a tank for a few days and watch them before feeding them. Thats what i always do. Just watch them for diseases or multiple deaths and the strong that survive are good feeders

After my first mistake of trusting them I'll never do it again. In fact I started a convict breeding-feeding set up just so that it never happens again. It's not really if you trust the main stream lfs, its their supplier that you need to be worried about...

If you really "Need" feeders, use rosey reds....but still QT them for a week or so.

NEVER_NEVER- trust the chain pet stores. The fish kids that work there have no clue what they're doing or talking about.I purposely ask them questions I know the answers to test them so I know if they're a"specialist"as they claim and they always give wrong answers or look at me like i got 5 heads.not to mention,go walk around and inspect ALL the tanks-they're usually all diseased. This is not 1 pet smart, petco etc-this is every single one i have gone to.go to a local smaller fish supply,it may be pricier but at least you wont kill all your other fish or lose the fish youre buying.I take my kids to these stores to see the animals if we are out and about but i never spend money there.I have seen way too many awesome small fish stores go out of buisness because of the giant stores.
oh-to answer your question further-feeders almost always have disease.get a 10 gallon to stash away the feeders and quarantine them until theyre okay.

alright here is my opinion. I just recently bought 3 pbass. orino, mono and kelberi, non of which I want to take too many chances with, and I would definitely be pissed if I lost one.

anyways, non of the fish(esp. the kelberi) are easy to get onto non-live food. so I went to a lfs that had guppies since petsmart doesnt. and the fish got sick with ick. so fortunately they were able to convert to rosies although at first rosies were bigger then what they wanted but now are eating small goldfish. all from petsmart. and I have never had a problem with petsmart feeders now or in the past which includes many many feeders.

with that said, not all petsmarts are the same, some have employees that work really hard and know how to keep fish healthy and some dont. I suggest you get a feel for the petsmart near you and make a decision.

It should be fine. I always throw in feeders from the store and never had a problem.

I wouldn't trust the feeders from the Petsmart near me.
