PetSmart flowerhorn worth it?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
From the pic, the fish has no hump, so I don't think it's worth $25. High quality FH must have hump first, color second. I've seen Petsmart sells higher quality FH, just not this one.

I've seen some ugly ducklings at petsmart and some grade A ones. This one seems in the middle. Looks like a Texas cross though

Not worth at all. You can buy 3-4" ones with Kok for $60-80 these days. Don't bother wasting the $25. Spend a little bit more and you can get one for much better quality without having to gamble.

Got him at pet smart for about 22 he had a lil kok but now it's massive he is only about 3and half inches. Anybody know what kind of flower horn this is?

It all depends on where you live. I personally would not spend $25.00 on that fish. I truly feel like its so much better to find a local breeder, if you can, and purchase a group of fry to raise. Then you can keep your favorites and sell or trade the others. Thats how I have gotten all of my Flowerhorns over the past 7 years, but before that I would take gambles on random little Flowerhorns I would find but it honestly never ended well in terms of quality.

My buddy bought a sweet red Texas from petsmart it was real ugly but it changed 100% now it looks so nice
Yeah you can get lucky. I just never did on those types of finds. I like seeing FH at 1.0 inch already showing a bump on their head. That is a selection method that hasn't led me wrong.

If you have change to spare why not? I always see the tag at my petsmart, but it's always emptied.
