I pulled out a top fin heater in 1 of my tank and double check the SKU, it's not the one on recalling list but I'm not really happy with this heater so might be a good time to stop using it :P

Plastic aquarium heater? I went through 3 brand new Topfin heaters over the last year. They were absolute garbage. Fortunately, each time Petsmart upgraded me to the Marineland at no charge, haven't had a problem since :)

Yes plastic, same as the Stealth that failed, and same as the current Aqueon Pro.

As far as SKU #'s, don't let that corporate BS fool you. The same Chinese company made them ALL, and this is exactly how the Stealth recall started - until more pipe bombs exploded, more people had damaged tanks, fires, etc, and the entire line of heater was eventually recalled.

I've never had heaters go out like like these topfins. The first time one started to go out, I didn't immediately pinpoint the noise, I've never had a heater make noise so I thought something was caught in my hob. Glad I missed the explosion and electric shock!! :/

Thanks for the heads up. I think I might have a couple of those.
