Petsmart/Not too shabby!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
around my area there is a great deal of inconsistancy throughout the entire selection as far as stock and knowledgeable staff

A couple of the petsmarts in Omaha are very nice. Good stock, decent employees and all clean, not to mention they have a good stock of everything, meds to food to filters. I find a couple of the Earl Mays around here are pretty good for fish too. They can get in occasional oddballs like ropes, nandus nandus and the type and they get some nice trade-ins too.

There is also a superwalmart in town that although it isn't really good for anything besides feeders because of walmart stock, the guy usually incharge of it is a very nice man who seems to really enjoy fish.

a couple ma and pa shops around are even worse then walmart. Now thats saying something.

Behemoth, thank you very much for your positive feedback. I have worked in that store for almost three years now, and finally was made the Petcare Manager a few weeks ago. I will pass on your praises to my staff and they will keep up the good for you and all the other customers. We have had those snooks for about 4 months, they came in about 1.5 in!!! I completly agree that they are alittle over-priced though. Also how is that midas doing, i know it jumped out of the speciman cup as she was pouring it into the bag.

For anyone else in the area come on by, we would love to have some MONSTER FISH KEEPERS!!! P.S. We have also setup a 150g display tank, come check it out

It's doing fine so far. She offered to ge me a different one but its fine so far.

You guys were as good if not better then the local LFS. The thing I liked about exotic tropicals is that they had some large fish...such as the goby I picked up from them. You can see it on a different thread.

Thats really cool that there are some Petsmart employees here from the same store you went to!

I think the Petsmart stores here in Raleigh, NC are a lot better than the Petco stores. We have around 3 of each store and all the Petsmarts seem to have a pretty good selection of fish. One of them even has a decent plant section.

I have emailed with Oscarhook before about some fish swapping but we never lined out all of the details. I did not know that he managed the Petsmart.

yep, i know exactly what gobies your talking about, they have had those things for a long time. I think they might be on the decline though. I try and make sure that my people are just as knowledgeable as the LFS, because we have much better price all around!!!

The gobies are gone now. I had told the guy I wanted both of them and he quoted me 50.00 for the two of them. I didnt get down there that week but i made it the following week and he wanted 40.00 for one. But he relented when he realized he had quoted me 50.00 for both.

The guys went through great efforts packing up my fish. Put them in coolers for me...whole nine yards...but they mainly carry the cute little fish and africans.
