It would be smart to ask when the fish orders usually arrive at your local Pmart. (I worked at petsmart for a 2 years and recently quit). The fish orders usually came in on wednesday's at my store, so I would say that friday is the best day to buy the fish.(after they've weeded out the stressed crap dead fish). You guy's have the right idea though. I think that the only cool fish that they sell are the clown loaches, bichir's, and some stores sell e.blue dempsey's and if they got deal's and two week guarantee's then take advantage!
well, 5 out of 6 are officially dead. However, I'm hoping to go in today and pick up 9 silver dollars.
BTW: I had just done a 50% water change before going to the store to pick up the loaches, and I also did a 50% water change on my ray tank with the same water and he had no ill effects. In fact I do 50% water changes on all my tanks 3 times a week (besides the salt tank). It makes everything grow fast.

Well, that is what a well, along with hoses and a sink in the back room are for. Get the sink to the right temperature and hook up the hose, then run the hose to the tank. It's really that simple! There isn't even any chlorine or chloramine to worry about thanks to the well.
Oh, and it really is a lot of water considering I have 16 tanks...

Fail!!! I just went to 3 local petsmarts here in northern Virginia and they were priced at 4.49 each, not to mention they were all very skinny, small and full of ick. Lots of oddballs though...
