Petsmart tank decorations

I bought a big plastic rock thing about a year ago for like $70 and regretted it. It was hollow and every one of my fish decided they wanted to cram inside of it. I had to break it open to get my raphael cat out of it. I still use fake plants but im gradually switching over to all natural materials for my scapes.

Hmmm,never knew that but I will definitely check them out.I would like to create some trunk and root structures .

Yes,I love the decor in those public displays....always wanted something of that caliber in my tanks.

Yeah,that whole thing is really cool.It is what I enjoy the most about the show Tanked....watching them create their displays out of raw materials.

Can you imagine the profit they make off the fake rocks and plants and wood?

There are numerous costs that go into an item besides the cost to make it.

Some plastic decor are not aquarium safe, despite labeled other wise. If it smells strong plastic, it’s likely unsafe. I was wondering why my tanganyikans kept dying with no symptoms, until I removed a sunken ship decor.

Not all plastic are the same. Plastic comes in different safety rating. Only drinking water or consumption safe rating is fish safe. There was recall a few years ago of plastic baby bottles that poisoned babies.

My favorite place to buy cheap aquarium decor is the local Rock yard / landscape company. Decked out three tanks with Texas Holey Rock, prices ranging from 12 cents -
25 cents a pound. Huge selections of rounded river rocks, granite, Laval rock ECT. All similarly priced. Had fun digging in the piles searching for trophies.
