Yeah,that whole thing is really cool.It is what I enjoy the most about the show Tanked....watching them create their displays out of raw materials.

Some plastic decor are not aquarium safe, despite labeled other wise. If it smells strong plastic, it’s likely unsafe. I was wondering why my tanganyikans kept dying with no symptoms, until I removed a sunken ship decor.

Not all plastic are the same. Plastic comes in different safety rating. Only drinking water or consumption safe rating is fish safe. There was recall a few years ago of plastic baby bottles that poisoned babies.

My favorite place to buy cheap aquarium decor is the local Rock yard / landscape company. Decked out three tanks with Texas Holey Rock, prices ranging from 12 cents -
25 cents a pound. Huge selections of rounded river rocks, granite, Laval rock ECT. All similarly priced. Had fun digging in the piles searching for trophies.
